Lidia Bennett was born in Birmingham in September 1954. Her Mother, Vittoria Stefano was an Opera Singer from Taranto (South of Italy) and her father Geoff Bennett was a well known Speedway Rider with the Brummies in the 1940s. From an early age travelling and moving countries have dominated Lidia’s life. Until the age of 17 she lived with her parents and 5 siblings in the Dolomites, Rome, Taranto, Ancona, Sardinia, London, Birmingham and Menorca.
In the 70s Lidia moved to Munich, Germany where she married her then husband with whom she had two children. She lived there until 2000 when she moved back to the UK and lived in Edinburgh for 2 years.
She is now back in England and has been living in the Midlands for the past 8 years.
During her time in Germany, Lidia’s passion for painting started to form and the emotionality and spirituality of her art was born.
Lidia’s paintings reflect the emotions and ups and downs one goes through in life. Happiness, pain and change are channelled through her art. The momentum of birth, friendship, loss, moving, leaving and being left behind, separation and love are processed by Lidia through the stroke of a paint brush.
